I always thought that the most important limitations in our lives are those we impose ourselves.
I came to Witte y Solà in 2013, as Responsible for Quality Assurance and running our internal quality control laboratory, to achieve a huge goal back then: the certification of our company in GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices for the Pharmacy sector ). My experience as technical director of an environmental and food analysis laboratory accredited by ENAC as a test and calibration laboratory, seemed to foresee success at my first challenge… And so it was, the following year we certified ourselves.
But this was only the first challenge to achieve, and many have been the challenges proposed and accepted -happy to, of course-. We certified the company in ISO 14001, started and certified a new line of laminated tubes, assembled the new department of Regulatory Affairs, and a long etcetera…
At the same time, I assumed the Quality and Environmental Management, I joined the WYS Board of Directors and lately I have hosted the Health and Safety Department. When I think about it, it seems incredible everything that has been assumed so far and with more desire than ever to continue taking on challenges and opportunities. The secret… well, very easy, I could summarize it in two big areas:
The first, the people of WYS, a team always willing to add. I have learned a lot from my colleagues, my direct team, of course, but also from each and every department of WYS. Everyone is always ready to collaborate and contribute, despite the fact that from the Quality department we usually do not give very good news… rejected batches, corrective actions, pending answers… Problems? Not all! Improvement opportunities!
And the second… my vital energy I suppose. I am a positive person, wanting to do things differently, to start up the pure and hard scientific method, that is, the empirical one: test-error-learning. This does not mean that I am not aware of my limitations and of possible collateral effects, but good planning and a good initial risk analysis are essential to decide the projects in which we are involved. With perseverance, of course, brilliant ideas and the Eureka that works at first is not always the most usual case. Someone, shortly after entering WYS told me: “you are a resilient person, you will get along with WYS” Then I did not know what the word resilience meant… but I do think it defines me well, besides being passionate and very brave!
I always thought that the most important limitations in our lives are those we impose ourselves.
