This summer in Witte y Solá is not closing or leaving for vacations, instead we use this time to renew and update our facilities. As we explained in the post that collected the information from Som Sant Fost, WYS begins this year an expansion process that will culminate in autumn 2020 with 1,000 m² more of surface. This process has began on August 5 with the reorganization of the current spaces of the Sant Fost de Campsentelles plant and the expansion of the manufacturing facilities to make room for the future line 7. In addition, the clean room is also expanded so that the seven lines have the same quality features.
A process divided into two phases
The process of renovation of Witte y Solá, which should be completed in the autumn of next year, is divided into two phases:
- Reorganization of the current spaces:
Currently, the WYS plant is distributed in three buildings, two of which are dedicated to manufacturing and the third in which maintenance services are located. With the reorganization that has began on August 5, the three warehouses will be dedicated to manufacturing, thus increasing the surface area and the capacity to assume greater production and new products and services that may arise from CreationLab. It is in this space that the seventh manufacturing line is located and where the clean room is enlarged.

Further works will begin to build the new buildings that will occupy the current parking space. With this extension of the surface, it will be possible to locate new warehouses with a capacity for 1,000 pallets, a new loading dock and the new offices that will include the technological development center, where new formulas will be sought to continue developing products and services adapted to the needs of the clients.

Energy efficiency
Following WYS ‘commitment to the environment and sustainability, the new works also incorporate elements to continue with the objective of energy efficiency and care of the natural environment. While the construction of the new buildings will be located in the area where the parking is currently located, the new parking spaces that are maintained will incorporate charging points for electric vehicles, thus enhancing their use. In addition, with the remodeling of this space, the number of trees in the factory will double.
Another new item planned in the second phase, with the construction of the new buildings, is the installation of solar panels on the roof, so that the commitment to the consumption of alternative energy from natural sources is maintained.
Maintain quality standards
Physical changes in the structure respond to the growth plan initiated by WYS. With this expansion we want to give space to the manufacture of new products, technological development and offer new services to customers.
“The objective is to maintain the robustness of the process, guarantee the fluidity of the supply chain and not affect, in any case, the quality of the product or the service that WYS provides to its customers.” Javier Solá, general director of Witte y Solá.
Thus, although for most the summer is synonymous with vacations, in Witte y Solá we take advantage of this moment to catch up and start the process of improving our facilities to face the new challenges.
